Writers Guild Awards 2018 – le migliori sceneggiature a Get Out e Chiamami col tuo nome

Sono stati consegnati ufficialmente i Writers Guild Awards 2018, i premi che ogni anno indicano quelle che sono le migliori sceneggiature composte durante il 2017. Molto spesso questa cerimonia riflette ciò che accadrà agli Academy Awards per quanto riguarda le categorie dedicate agli scripts, nonostante all’appello mancasse uno dei pretendenti principali all’Oscar come Tre Manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri, scritto e diretto da Martin McDonagh. Per quanto concerne il premio alla migliore sceneggiatura originale, è l’horror satirico-sociale Get Out di Jordan Peele a vincere l’ambito premio, abbattendo così la concorrenza di film come The Big Sick di Michael Showalte, I, Tonya di Craig Gillespie, Lady Bird di Greta Gerwig e il vincitore del Leone d’Oro La forma dell’acqua di Guillermo del Toro.

Nel lato della sceneggiatura adattata, è Chiamami col tuo nome di Luca Guadagnino a vincere la statuetta contro validi avversari come The Disaster Artist di James Franco, Logan di James Mangold, Molly’s Game di Aaron Sorkin e Mudbound di Dee Rees. Nel campo dei racconti seriali, i Writers Guild Awards rafforzano ancor di più l’ascesa di una delle storie che più hanno impresso l’anno passato, The Handmaid’s Tale, che ottiene i premi per la serie drammatica e per la serie emergente, mentre Big Little Lies si conferma tra le migliori miniserie messe in scena nel 2017.
